(Completed event) Special open day on our estate
On October 27, 2024, we celebrated 80 years of liberation together with the Charlotte van Beuningen Housing Association with a special open day at the Huize Bergen estate in Vught.
This event focused on Charlotte van Beuningen and her social commitment, especially during the war years, when she put together food parcels and brought them to Camp Vught.
Visitors were able to explore the historic villa at Glorieuxlaan 1 and learn about the estate and Charlotte's legacy, with special attention to the Second World War. The Housing Association set up a period room to show how her ideas are still alive.
Three guided tours were offered by our heritage warden, each lasting one hour, and visitors enjoyed coffee and cake in the restaurant or on the terrace. It was an impressive day to reflect on.
(Completed event) 80 years of liberation
In the context of 80 years of liberation of Vught, we organized an Open Air Film Night on our estate in Vught in collaboration with the Charlotte van Beuningen Housing Association. This collaboration arose from our appreciation for Charlotte van Beuningen and her social commitment, especially during the war years when she made food parcels with her own hands and brought them to Camp Vught.
During this Open Air Movie Night, the guests enjoyed the movie "One Life" together, with award-winning actors Anthony Hopkins and Helena Bonham Carter. The movie was chosen because of its relationship with the liberation of Vught. It promised to be an evening in which people would definitely enjoy this beautiful and emotional movie.
We would like to thank you very much for your presence during our Open Air Film Night on our estate in Vught, in honor of 80 years of liberation. It was a special evening, partly thanks to your presence, and we hope you enjoyed the film "One Life" and the meaningful moments we experienced together.
Your involvement and support made this evening extra special. We greatly appreciate you joining us to commemorate and celebrate this historic event. Thank you again, and we hope to welcome you back to one of our events in the future!
The housing association Charlotte van Beuningen
After the death of her mother, daughter Charlotte (1880) and her husband Willem van Beuningen (1873) moved into the house in 1927.
They have not gone unnoticed in the municipality of Vught due to their many good deeds. Among other things, in the 1930s they had workers' houses built for the then impoverished Vught. These houses are now part of the 'Charlotte Elisabeth van Beuningen Foundation'. The renovation of the beautiful town hall in Vught was also largely a gift from the family to the municipality. During the Second World War, Charlotte organised the distribution of food parcels for prisoners of Camp Vught.
